WISH for it Intentionally!

Cinderella said; “A dream is a wish the heart makes.”

What are you dreaming or wishing about these days?

Especially when it comes to your family?

It’s no secret to those who know me even a little bit that you could call our family a “Disney Family.” Now, I know some say; “Oh, Disney isn’t for me anymore I’m too old,” or “I don’t have kids.” If that’s you, in my opinion, you’re missing out. There is so much to do and explore for ALL AGES.

Preparing for our last Disney Cruise we knew our youngest would be old enough for Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. Imagine an enchanted salon where Fairytale Transformations happen. We booked an appointment and when she walked in she was on cloud nine. She was able to pick the outfit she wanted. We only had to try two before she landed on Princess Jasmine.

By the time she was done, she had the full Disney Princess makeover. She was ready for a royal ball. All at Disney Prices of course! As we walked out of the Boutique she paused for a moment and said “I am the Queen.” The following hour every Crewmember we encountered greeted, talked to, and engaged with her like she was in fact Princess Jasmine was worth every dime. As a parent one of my wishes is for my kids to experience the things they want.

The lessons I can unpack from this one experience on one Disney trip could go on and on. For instance, doing this makeover came with a choice to invest in the experience. In life, we have to weigh the cost of what we want or need to pursue. How much time is required? Is there a financial cost to consider? Who might be needed to help me get there?

For an hour during our cruise, with a small fortune and a Fairy Godmother Apprentice, we could make our daughter’s wish for a Princess makeover happen. I knew beforehand it would be worth all of the above. I learned in the moments after we walked out and around the ship anytime we were on a cruise again in the next few years she’d want to do it again. You can bet this dad (and her mom too) are pretty likely to grant the wish next time we’re on board! For the record, my shirt in the picture says "Princess Protection"

What this and other trips have opened my eyes to is that when we add a bit of intentionality to our experiences, yes even Disney vacations we can connect back to our leadership growth. In this case, I want families to learn to go from a state of wishing or dreaming, like my daughter of being a Princess (Jasmine outfit or not, she is my Princess every day) to take the steps to make those things a reality for you!

So, what are you wishing and dreaming for? Honestly, take a few moments to jot them down if you’ve never done so. Next, I want to invite you and your family to come set sail with my family. Harbor TREKS: Disney Cruise will be setting sail in the Summer of 2024. Join us on the Disney Wish for a 4-night Bahamian Cruise. We’re going to put some work in before (a little during) and after the cruise to help every family participating to focus intentionally on their dreams.

Whatever my kids’ dreams are I’m going to be by their side, helping them unpack them, creating paths to get there, and cheering them on through the wins and lessons. And I can’t wait to do the same for you as part of TREKS!

Whether you sail with us now, next time, or not at all, I hope you’ll get intentional about your wish. When you or your youth are ready to create a personal growth plan to get there please book a Complimentary Discovery Session.

Make It A Great Day, Chris
