When can you start to disciple the way you would like to? Guess what, it’s not after seminary! It’s not after you get a call from God (See Decembers Faith Lane emails). It’s not when you
feel ready. In fact it is most likely way before you think you will be ready.
John Maxwell said, “Most accomplishments I’ve achieved in life I began to attempt before I was really ready.” The first contest Olympic athletes compete in isn’t the olympics. Most athletes' first attempt isn’t even when they start practicing. Their first attempt is looking at a friend and saying I can beat you… GO!
You will never be ready before you attempt to disciple someone. You have to attempt to disciple, make mistakes, learn, and repeat. The attempts are what prepare you to be ready. Discipleship is a process not a destination. Enjoy the journey.
