“Growth Stops When You Lose the Tension Between Where You Are and where You Could
Be.” John C. Maxwell
James 1:2-4 ESV “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”
I truly believe that in every one of us there is a draw to greatness. The reason most people fail to reach greatness is because they don’t want to go through the pain of being stretched to get to that greatness. As I reflect on James 1:2-4, being stretched is what causes us to grow. Continuing to grow is where we find a lack in nothing. When we find ourselves being discontent we probably have a lack of being stretched to our limits.
Are those you are discipling being stretched? Or are they settling into mediocrity? To get others around you to be inspired to become better in their lives they need to see you be stretched and growing in your life. Discipleship happens in that space between where you are and where you could be. Go to where you could be.
