Why I Choose to Grow Even If Others Don’t

Not everyone desires to learn or practice leadership. Some people don’t see the need for it,

at least not right now. And that’s okay. Leadership is a choice, not a requirement. It’s not my job to force anyone to pursue it. But for me, leadership has become more than a skillset—it’s part of my life and who I am becoming.

Leading Myself First

The most important leadership lesson I’ve learned is this: before I can effectively lead anyone else, I must first lead myself. If I’m not disciplined in my own growth, intentional with my own choices, and accountable to my own values, then I won’t have the credibility or stability to guide others.

Self-leadership is where it all starts. It shapes my character, influences my decisions, and sets the tone for how I interact with others. When I grow myself, I create a stronger foundation for helping others grow too.

What Leadership Means in My Life

Leadership, for me, is about growth, influence, and stewardship. It’s how I show up for my family, my work, my community, and myself. It’s the lens through which I approach challenges and opportunities. I don’t practice leadership because someone told me to or because it’s trendy. I practice leadership because it equips me to navigate life better and to help others do the same.

Why I Must Continue My Growth

Growth isn’t something you arrive at; it’s something you continue. When I stop growing personally, my ability to lead others slows down too. But when I keep investing in my own leadership, I expand my ability to help others through challenges, encourage them to see possibilities, and stand steady when storms come.

That’s why I must continue my growth journey. Because I know the day will come when someone needs me to be prepared, grounded, and ready to lead—not just myself, but them as well.

Sharing Leadership with You

I want to share leadership with you because I believe in its power. Although you may not “need” it now, there will be a time when you do. Life will hand you a situation where influence, clarity, or courage is required—and I want you to be ready.

It’s always your choice. Whether you engage with leadership principles or not doesn’t affect my relationship with you. My respect, friendship, or care for you doesn’t depend on it. But I can tell you from experience: when things don’t go well—and this will happen—leadership principles can steady you, guide you, and help you move forward.

The Invitation

Leadership is not about titles or positions. It starts with leading yourself well so that you can lead others better. My hope is that by sharing my journey, you’ll feel encouraged to begin or continue your own. Not because you “have to,” but because one day you’ll be grateful you did.

I’d love to walk along side you on the journey. Please reach out.

I look forward to chatting with you soon!
