How Adding Is Multiplication

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father

and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” Matthew 28:19 ESV

Before you freak out and think I am about to ask you to share your faith with a stranger, you can relax. I’m not going to do that. I want to draw your attention to the phrase that will help you multiply by addition; “make disciples.”

Notice it doesn’t say save souls. It’s a command that isn’t based on skill. You don’t have to be a great orator or a master in apologetics. To make a disciple, you must intentionally add value to others.

Think about the people you have admired in your life. Did you only see what they did and say to yourself that is cool? Or did you also think or hope you could do what they did?

“Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness.”

- Oscar Wilde.

In other words, when you intentionally add value to others, those being discipled by you mirror (imitate) you and want to add value to others. Then you’ve turned your addition of pouring into one life into multiplication because the people you add value to (a.k.a. disciple) will go out and pour into other people.

Don’t be intimidated by the Great Commission. Making disciples is simplified when you intentionally seek to add value to others.

Go, outlive your limits!

Your Coach - Aaron Jones
